Week 8 – Dag 3/Day 3: Gebed en God se mag/Prayer and God’s power

Wees veral versigtig wanneer jy bid om God te beperk. Ons doen dit nie noodwendig deur ongeloof nie, maar deur te dink dat ons weet wat hy kan doen.

Ef 3: 20 Aan Hom wat deur sy krag wat in ons werk, magtig is om oneindig meer te doen as wat ons bid of dink, 21 aan Hom kom die eer toe, in die kerk, deur ons verbondenheid met Christus Jesus, deur al die geslagte heen tot in alle ewigheid. Amen.

Ek is seker dat ons nie perfek sal word in hierdie lewe nie. As dit so sou wees, sou Christus nie nodig wees nie. Dit is slegs in Hom dat ons vrygespreek, heilig en verlos is (1 Kor 1:30,31). Laat ons nooit enige eer vir onsself opeis nie.

Paulus se gebed vir die Efesiërs is ’n gebed vir hierdie reis van die gelowige. Hy bid dat die Gees ons innerlik sterk sal maak. Deur Christus sal ons in die liefde gewortel wees. Ons ontdek saam met ander gelowiges die grootheid van sy liefde. Paulus bid dat die volheid van God ons sal vul.

Is dit nie te veel gevra nie? Is dit regtig alles moontlik? Ja. Daar is egter een groot voorwaarde. Dit hang nie van ons af nie, maar van Hom wat baie meer kan doen as wat ons bid of dink! Nie jou gebrokenheid en sonde nie, maar sy onmeetbare krag is die sleutel. Laat ons God nie beperk nie! Hy sal baie meer doen as wat ons verwag! Sien jy kans daarvoor? Dis ’n avontuur wat ons nie mag misloop nie!

Here, neem ons op die avontuur van u onbeperkte moontlikhede, in Jesus se Naam.

Beware in your prayer, above everything, of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do.

 

Ephesians 3: 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

 

I am certain that we will not reach perfection in this world. If that had been the case, we would not have any use for Christ. It is only through Him that we are justified, holy and redeemed. Let us never boast in anything else!

Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians (3:14-21) is about the journey of a believer. He prays that the Spirit will give us inner strength. Through Christ, we shall be rooted and established. We will discover greatness of his love along with other believers. Paul prays that we might be filled with the fullness of God.

Is this not too much to ask? Is it possible? Yes. However, there is one condition. It does not depend on us, but upon him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we pray or imagine! Not our brokenness and sin, but his unlimited power is the key. Let us not limit God! He will do more than we expect. Are you ready for it? You should not miss this adventure!

Lord, take us on the adventure of your unlimited possibilities, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
